Backpack Blessings

Backpack Blessings

Backpack Blessings is a ministry of Presbyterian Women and provides food for low-income students to take home each weekend. Mallard Creek started the program in 2015 and partners with University Meadows Elementary School, Parkside Elementary School, and Mallard Creek Elementary School to provide food to their students on the free lunch program.

These are children and their families that qualify for free or reduced lunches at school and otherwise would not get much food to eat on weekends due to their families’ economic situation.

These backpacks consist of snacks and food for Friday as well as breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for Saturday and Sunday. On average we prepare approximately 39 backpacks each week that feed 112 children and 80 adults.
